IMPORTANT INFORMATION: STCW 1978, as amended and including the requirements of STCW 2010 (Manila Amendments) – Chapter VI - Mandatory minimum requirements for security-related training and instruction for all seafarers – Section A-VI/6 Standards of Competency for Security-related Familiarisation Training requires that: Before being assigned to shipboard duties, all persons employed or engaged on a seagoing vessel which is required to comply with the provisions of the ISPS Code, other than passengers, shall receive approved security-related familiarisation training in; Security Awareness Training for all Seafarers.
All persons with specific designated security duties must complete Section A-VI/6-1, Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties and any person to be designated as Ship Security Officer must complete Section A-VI/6-2 and Section A-VI/5 Mandatory minimum requirements for the issue of Certificates of Proficiency for Ship Security Officer.
